GOP Still Refusing to Take Iraq and Homeland Security Seriously
No matter how much they spin, no matter how many happy-sounding speeches they give, no matter how many Fox News shows they appear on to peddle their lies, the Republican Party cannot hide the fact that Americans are sick and tired of the Iraq War and want a serious change in direction in America’s national security policy. Nonetheless, led by President Bush, the GOP continues to dig in, saying there will be no change, and even allowing the culture of corruption to erode America’s defenses in the War on Terror here at home. It is all part and parcel of a Republican Party spinning wildly out of control - a party that no longer makes even the slightest effort to represent the American people.

GOP's Culture of Corruption Runs Deep
It seems not a week goes by without another Republican being implicated in a major corruption scandal – and last week was no exception. In the span of a few days, a White House aide was convicted, the Speaker of the House was implicated in a self-dealing scandal, and two senior Republican strategists were implicated in the burgeoning scandal surrounding convicted GOP lobbyist Jack Abramoff. What's clear is that the Republican Party's culture of corruption goes even deeper than ever thought – it has oozed out of Washington's halls of power and into state and religious politics in a way never even thought possible. And as more details come to light, more and more Americans are realizing that it is time for a change.

Arnold Terminates His Own Credibility
In politics, a leader’s credibility and willingness to fulfill promises is critical. Once that credibility has been destroyed and promises backed out of, a leader can be damaged for good. That’s exactly what has happened to Schwarzenegger. Over his first term, he has broken countless promises while portraying himself in far more moderate terms than he’s governed. These broken promises and misleading storylines are now being regularly exposed on the campaign trail. And as the 2006 election approaches, more and more Californians are learning just how dishonest this incumbent governor really is.

No More Free Pass for Arnold
With the general election campaign for governor now fully underway, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is finding that he’s not on easy street anymore. Now, he’s got a serious Democratic challenger in Phil Angelides - a challenger who is not going to let him get away with sugarcoating his right-wing record. Angelides last week went on the attack, launching an ad blitz that rips the veneer off all of Arnold’s happy talk and shows just how much California’s governor resembles George W. Bush, both in behavior and in policies. Schwarzenegger can continue to try to pretend he’s a moderate, but no amount of rhetoric can hide his record from the public, now that Democrats are united behind Angelides.

Arnold Flips The Bird
Arnold's new slick TV commercials, which he claims will showcase the differences between the two candidates, show a bird walking forward then backward (get it?).
First of all, if he wanted a commercial that really showcased the differences, wouldn't it first show a Hollywood “player” with a career on the downside who decided to dip into politics to keep his huge ego afloat, contrasted with a man who has spent a better part of his life devoted to public service?
Secondly, if Arnold is so “jonesing” to move this state forward, then why did he choose these people -- some from the Nixon and Reagan eras -- as part of his statewide leadership team?
Nancy Reagan
George Shultz
(Ronald Reagan’s Secretary of State, also served under Nixon)
Pete Wilson
(Republican California Governor who tried to deny undocumented immigrants rights with his Prop 187)
George Deukmejian
(Another former CA Republican Governor)
Rep. Darrell Issa
(Major moneyman behind the Recall)
Bill Jones
(Former Republican Secretary of State, who ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2002 and U.S. Senate in 2004)
Apparently, Arnold is more into “recycling” than we thought.

Don't Let The Door Hit You On Your Way Out!
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
". . . history will remember Tom DeLay more for lawbreaking than for lawmaking."
Unfortunately, DeLay spread a lot of his garbage around. He leaves behind a legacy - rich in corruption.

Post Election
With 99% of the precincts reporting in according to the Secretary of State's website, Phil Angelides has won the Democratic primary and is our nominee to defeat Arnold this fall. We will be updating the rest of the website later today, but for now you can find the complete results for all of the races at http://vote.ss.ca.gov.
Feel free to discuss in the comments!
