Wayward Christian Soldiers

"Freeing the Gospel from political captivity" is hardly a new endeavor. From the first entrapment by Constantine in 313 A.D., the church has been trying to free itself from captivity by one "-Ism" or another. In part The Davinchi Code was about that, which upset American fundamentalism tremendously when it shed light on the old, well-confirmed fact that Constantine wielded his weight on the order of the Gospels & got his way with the final verdict, not the Church. American fundamentalism is quintessentially political with religion always small-r & has harassed & created havoc from the fringes for decades, but with the impowerment provided by Ronald Reagan, it was only a matter of time before they'd proclaim their right to speak for Americans. They tried & failed with the Moral Majority as a microphone for Jerry Falwell so it was short-lived, but they tried again with The Christian Coalition under the finger of Ralph Reed, also unsuccessful as tidbits of their front-men's foibles of the flesh downed them. They have learned to manipulate media well & understand HUBRIS not one iota with their literalism barking orders; therefore, we should not have been surprised by their over-reaching with a "Theology of War" supporting the Iraq Pre-emptive Invasion. If it weren't for the Iraqi citizenry being savaged daily, we could almost cheer that fiasco, confirming as it does the abject failure of W's "faith-based" bribes taken so willingly by the religous Right. "War" as a Godly weapon upon an alien faith has never been so badly managed but lost from the outset for its historical folly. Sadly, the term 'Christian' has been contaminated in the world's news by the rightist regime that purports to speak for us v. them. How do Mainline & Mainstream denominations maintain their voices when to speak invariably means to speak against the kind of Christian that has utter disregard for human life tho' proclaiming the opposite in obstructive demonstrations regularly?

We must all applaud Prof. Marsh for speaking against the distortive pundits of the religious Right & their usurpation by misdefining , but has the time not been reached for separating the Church from the church of biblical literalism & not counting them in any way as "christian"? Yes, but consider the unholy alliance between the SBC & Focus on the Family in opposing the American Psychological Association (APA) on 'reparative therapy' & not accepting homosexuals for who they are and will always be. The APA is holding firm in accepting only "Science" as documentation, but this will be a good talking-point for "Christian Radio (so-called: sic" for weeks or months, very good in the role of half-truths & all distortions along the way. Sadly, also, the pronouncemnts of Pope Benedict in rolling back the reforms of John XXIII & 1962ff. you are reading for yourselves, with callous disregard for the tacit approval of Anti-Semitism, again, as "Christ-killers" suggests in the Latin Mass. Why wouldn't the wider world raise at least an eyebrow & count us in the underbelly of American christianity [read: fundamentalists, evangelicals (so-called) et al.] if we do not object vocally & in-print against the REdefining of "Christianity" by the religious Right? May these demented souls find the 'hell' themselves which they have imagined for us all. Kudos to Prof. Marsh for his missal of separation with elucidation!

There are dangerous distractions dividing christians in our country away from unifying and combining their voting power during this critical election year. Congregations are reporting devisions over 911 conspiracies and other popular contentions which frequently turn into disputes regarding the Iraq war and 911 within the house of prayer. I am writing to you because I have long forseen such negative trends growing within many believers becoming highly divisive and very dangerous.

There have been several honest investigations recently which have exposed 911 conspiracies as dangerous and miss-leading propaganda harmful to our country. Believability in such fabrications has a bewitching affect upon the minds of many christians as well as upon the minds of non christians. Such propaganda fuels a growing lack of trust for our American institutions and can turn believers against their own country or against their own ministers who refuse to support the conspiratorial spin. The negative affects I am warning about have much to do with the fact that many christians are currently being distracted away from an extremely important presidential election where leftists are contending to gain positions of power which could potentually turn our nation into an anti christian socialistic state.

Modern Leftists despise christians and are currently waging a political and media war against us. These people work tirelessly to silence the voices of faith in order to undermine christian influence and set up their left leaning Babylon. As christians are decieved into contending against Bush, Iraq, and confusion over 911 conspiracies they unknowingly assist true enemies by helping them ride easily into power without resistance. I was inspired with new understanding and seek to reveal an important message recorded in the Bible concerning 911 and the Iraq war.
