WILL SADDAM HUSSEIN CALL DONALD RUMSFELD AS A DEFENSE WITNESS?

Allegedly, the legal proceedings will start soon against Saddam for numerous crimes over the last two decades.

The fear of Bush Jr. and the Republicans is once he gets a lawyer, Saddam Hussein will subpoena Bush Jr.’s Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

After all, it was Rumsfeld in 1983 who went to Baghdad and met with Saddam Hussein for 90 minutes (a video of the meeting is in Fahrenheit 9/11) to discuss what weapons Saddam wanted. Rumsfeld, as part of the Reagan-Bush Sr. administration, immediately authorized the weapons be shipped to Saddam who then used them against Iranians and the people of Iraq, especially the Kurds.

So like Bush Jr., Rumsfeld will need a criminal defense attorney.

And who’s in charge of the criminal prosecution of Saddam Hussein? None other than Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, a former henchman of Saddam Hussein’s. Maybe Saddam will put the Prime Minister on his defense list also.

BUSH JR. AND DEMOCRACY?

Bush Jr. talks about spreading democracy in Iraq and Afghanistan, where women are being urged to register to vote at great risk. Meanwhile the Bushes continue to do everything they can to purge African-Americans from the voter rolls in Florida, as they did in 2000.

FULL SOVEREIGNTY?

Just another of Bush Jr.’s lies to the people of Iraq and America.

Cheney uses one four-letter F word (and refused to apologize) and Bush Jr. used another one, numerous times – “full” sovereignty, he told the world.

Not exactly -- outgoing U.S. administrator Paul Bremer signed a bunch of “occupying force” executive orders. Mahmoud Othman, a member of the now dissolved Governing Council, said “they (Bremer) have established a system to meddle in our affairs.” Washington Post 6/27/04

BEHEADING ON BOTH SIDES?

All decent people are outraged by the beheadings going on in Iraq by the insurgents.

Tragically, the new Defense Minister, Hazin Shaalan, explains how Iraq will now handle the insurgents: “We will cut off their hands and behead them.” Newsweek July 5, 2004

Didn’t Bush Jr. just tell the world what a monster Saddam Hussein was for cutting off the hands of Iraqis?

FAHRENHEIT 9/11

It was the top movie of the weekend earning $24 million at the box office. Well worth seeing. I went the first night – powerful!

BUSH JR. NOT UNDER OATH AND REFUSES LIE DETECTOR TEST

Was it Karl Rove or Bush Jr., or both, who committed a federal crime by releasing the name of an undercover CIA agent?

I predict both were in on it as well as the conspiracy to cover up the crime.

On June 24, Bush Jr. was interviewed by the Special Federal Prosecutor about the matter. He refused to be interviewed under oath or take a lie detector test.

Bush Jr. was not allowed to have Cheney with him this time as he did with the 9/11 Commission.

SCHWARZENEGGER, WOLFOWITZ AND A HUMMER

Paul Wolfowitz, who along with Karl Rove, was behind the “brilliant” strategy to invade Iraq last year with little planning, attacked journalists last week, basically calling them “cowards” for allegedly not going outside of Baghdad.

About three dozen journalists have died in Iraq. On the other side of the coin, all the American “big shots” stay in the Green Zone in Baghdad under multiple layers of protection, including sandbags piled to the second floor.

Additionally, when Wolfowitz is in Iraq, he has dozens of elite troops guarding him. Wolfowitz was forced to apologize to the journalists.

My suggestion – Schwarzenegger should loan Wolfowitz one of his seven Hummers and Wolfowitz should take a drive by himself through the Sunni triangle.

DUCK HUNTING PAYS OFF

Scalia and crew ruled that Cheney, Halliburton, Enron and others, who had secret meetings over how to gouge Californians, can keep their meeting records secret for now.

Cheney took Judge Scalia on a duck hunting trip earlier this year, so that sure paid off for Halliburton and Cheney.

The political deal Scalia basically has is: keep those rulings coming our way (i.e. 12/20/00 5-4 vote to make Bush Jr. President) and we’ll make you Chief Justice.

To become Chief Justice, Scalia will sell out the U.S. Constitution and his family.

KERRY IN CALIFORNIA AGAIN

The next president of the United States, Sen. John Kerry, is in California for two days of meetings with supporters and talking about ways to improve the economy (including hi-tech) and speaking to SEIU and AFSCME.

I believe this is Kerry’s 35th visit to California in the last two years. Kerry is quite familiar with California, having been stationed at Treasure Island, Long Beach and San Diego while in the Navy.

This was before Kerry went to Vietnam where he served in combat in a war that, like most Americans, he eventually realized was a “March of Folly.”

BOTH CLINTON BOOKS HAVE SET RECORDS

“My Life” sold more than 400,000 copies in its first day of release. This is a record for a non-fiction book.

Whose record did Bill Clinton beat? That’s right. Sen. Hillary Clinton’s “Living History” held the record at 200,000 books sold in its first day.

How does this compare to all those Republican authors? Most don’t sell this many books total.

Meanwhile, the publisher of “My Life” announced an additional printing of 725,000 books.

CHENEY IN A COVER-UP OR LYING?

Dick Cheney told the press last Friday that he “knows things” about Iraq and al-Qaeda that the 9/11 Commission doesn’t.

RUMSFELD, SADDAM HUSSEIN AND AL-QAEDA

Is there a connection between Bush Jr.’s Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and 9/11?

If you follow the Bush Jr. and Cheney logic, there is.

In 1983, Rumsfeld went to Baghdad and met with Saddam Hussein for 90 minutes. Subsequent to that, Rumsfeld authorized all kinds of weapons for war to be sent to Saddam Hussein.

Later, Cheney claims Saddam Hussein had his agents meet with al-Qaeda people. Connect the dots and you see a lot of meetings, starting with Rumsfeld and ending with the 9/11 attacks.

BEFORE BUSH JR.’S ‘NO’ TO THE REAGAN FAMILY

We all know the 1950’s- thinking of Bush Jr. “forced” him to say no to Nancy Reagan’s request for further stem cell research.

But now we also know what happened as the morning-after pill was about to be approved a few months ago by the FDA for use without a prescription.

BUSH JR. – HYSTERICAL AND UNSTABLE?

Cheney told the Commission that he got the order from Bush Jr. in a phone call. According to the Commission report, in that time frame, the evidence leads to there being no such phone call.

Was Bush Jr. so hysterical and unstable during that time flying around the country that Cheney became the acting president under the U.S. Constitution?

MEDAL OF HONOR

Two obituaries about two Medal of Honor recipients from two different wars caught my attention over the weekend.

Richard E. Bush (no relation to the AWOL Bush Jr.) was a 79-year old WW II veteran. Raymond Clausen was a 56-year old Vietnam veteran.

Obviously both men went way beyond the call of duty to be awarded the Nation’s highest honor.

The Vietnam War lasted so long that 238 American troops were awarded the Medal of Honor, including 150 posthumously.

All of America should think of these two, and the other brave Americans who have served or are currently serving our country, and their families.

DICK CHENEY, BRIBES AND WOMEN

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced they are investigating Dick Cheney’s Halliburton for paying $180 million (yes, million!) in bribes to get a natural gas project in Nigeria.

Cheney was in charge of Halliburton at the time. I assume when Cheney authorized that $180 million, he wasn’t considering that he would ever be Vice-President of the United States. By the way, I wonder how would you report such a sum to your board of directors and stockholders?

My prediction: with these types of bribes, I bet there are usually prostitutes, booze and trips are thrown in.

Cheney is as corrupt as Nixon’s Spiro Agnew, who resigned after being caught taking bribes. Attorney General John Mitchell (I mean Ashcroft) no doubt will attempt to cover this up. But fortunately for the American people, it will be President Kerry’s A.G. who will handle prosecuting Cheney.

U.S. GENERAL SAYS IRAQ TRAINING A FAILURE

Once again, another of Bush Jr.’s foreign policies dead-ends in a cul de sac.

“It hasn’t gone well. We’ve had almost one year of no progress. We’ve had the wrong training focus – on individual cops rather than their leaders.” Major General (2 Stars) Paul Eaton, departing Iraq after one year overseeing the faulty training - commenting on Bush Jr.’s Iraq policy.

Bush Jr. didn’t understand in the beginning what an invasion of Iraq would entail -- remember “Mission Accomplished?” -- and he hasn’t since.

As the country goes through all the appropriate services for Ronald Reagan (Nixon didn’t deserve one and didn’t get it) some of us remember the country going through the difficult times with the assassinations of John Kennedy in 1963 and his brother Bobby in 1968.

A million people stood along the route of President Kennedy’s service in Washington D.C. Bobby Kennedy’s body lay in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York for over two days. The lines were 25 blocks long. Then Bobby Kennedy was taken by train to D.C. An estimated one million people lined the tracks to watch the train pass by. The gathering was so massive that two people were tragically killed by another train passing by.

Rove is working overtime to make sure Schwarzenegger doesn’t have much of a role at this year’s Republican National Convention. CHENEY’S HALLIBURTON DELIVERING “SAILBOAT FUEL”

In another example of the corruption in the White House, Cheney’s Halliburton has been caught driving empty trucks in Iraq.

A dozen truck drivers have complained to authorities about the scam, but Cheney’s Halliburton dismisses them.

In one convoy of 28 trucks, all but one truck was empty. The drivers, as well as the troops escorting them, are at grave risk. Some have been injured or killed with their empty trucks.

The driver refers to these loads as “sailboat fuel.”

Nancy Reagan has praised Democrats for supporting stem cell research and has privately criticized Bush Jr. and his 1950’s- thinking allies in the Republican Party for blocking research that may lead to cures for these tragic diseases and injuries.
